Saturday, February 16, 2008 Protest Heartless Monsters that Pimp Fur Demo #1: Saks Fifth Avenue, New York City Activists began their day of action against the heartless scum who promote and sell fur at Saks Fifth Avenue, home to an Escada concession. New fur banners were unfurled and graphic bloody signs depicting what was left of animals skinned for their fur greeted shoppers as they entered and left Saks two major entrances. Wonderful place to command the attention of Saks patrons and others strolling the Avenue. A slick looking corporate scumbag came out of the store to watch the protest….we found out later that he is the store manager. They called and police came running, but failed to do anything to restrict or stop the protest in progress. A spirited demonstration was held for over an hour. The sound of activists voices raised in chant grabbed the attention of tourists and shoppers along Fifth Avenue and visitors to New York’s Rockefeller Center. “Hey Escada, hey Saks, what do you say? How did you kill your fur today?….Gassing, Trapping, Anal Electrocution.” Activists posters showed the graphic images that gave impact and credibility to their claims. Demo #2: Escada - 715 Fifth Avenue, New York City Short blocks away, activists next visited Escada’s flagship New York City store on Fifth Avenue and 56th Street. As usual, store personnel perked up when they saw us coming. Some gathered at the street level windows, while others watched the protesters from their second floor windows. With so few customers, personnel have little to do other than gawk and take pictures. Police were called but once again, protesters were allowed to continue their completely legal protest. The few potential customers that might have stopped or even shopped there, were clearly influenced by the determined protesters. Demonstrators gave voice to their anger at so many walking the streets of New York City wearing full length furs and lots of fur trim by channeling their anger at Escada. The intensity of the demonstration was palpable. The spirited group would not allow any “fur hag”, male or female, to walk passed Escada without shaming them for their cruelty and lack of compassion. Mid-chant, activists would quickly transition to “50 dead animals, 1 fur coat” or “Shame, shame, shame on you” whenever anyone crossed the picket line wearing fur making sure to point to the individual being shamed. The stated goal of a Fur Free New York City will best be achieved by making it totally unacceptable to wear fur on the sidewalks of New York. Escada, you didn’t get what you wanted. You did not intimidate activists by filing a false police report and making spurious and false allegations at the Americana Mall out on Long Island. All you did is intensify the focus on your stores and you gave activists a reason to keep coming back…..over and over and over again. Eventually, we will teach you a valuable lesson. It is illegal in the USA to make false accusations….even in Nassau County, Long Island. Demo #3: Dennis Basso Fur Salon - Madison Avenue Saving New York’s favorite fur ghoul for last, activists made their way to the nearly empty showroom of Dennis Basso. A banner with graphic photos of totured fur bearing animals was unfirled and activists sported new posters…..Dennis Basso: Fur Ghoul and Basso is a Nazi were held as the voice gave vent to their anger at the disgusting and ostentatious display of fur. Looking through Basso’s window one could only guess how many thousands of animals were tortured and mutilated to line Basso’s racks with fur and his pockets with cash. His cold hearted and uncaring staff made the same mistake that they have made in times past. They laughed at and ridiculed the protest on their doorstep. This only angered the activists that put every ounce of energy into the protest. Tired voices were stretched to the max to send a strong and loud message to Basso’s goons. “We will never back down, until YOU stop the killing”. One activist gave voice to the question that troubled all of the other protesters: “How could anyone look at pictures of tortured, mutilated and skinned animals and laugh?” The answer is that they are cold, hard hearted, self absorbed human beings. They are perverts, just like pedophiles, rapists and serial killers. They are sadistic bastards for whom the sight of blood makes them salivate, smile and dance in the aisles of their disgusting perverted store. And Dennis Basso is their leader. Perverts! |
