Back to Soiffer-Haskin for the Last Day of the Dennis Basso Fur Show (Round 3)

Even though with the wind chill factor the temperature was in the teens, this didn't deter protesters from making a strong showing on the last day of Basso's ghoulish sale of death and despair. Despite the fact that it was too cold to distribute very much literature, it did not stop people from pausing to look at the graphic banner and the bloody, mutilated and skinned animals displayed on posters. Many asked questions, that the protesters were only too happy to answer.

Once again, customers and even patrons who did not make a purchase were hurried out the back door for their “safety” even though two New York City policemen were on the scene. One elderly woman customer was roughly grabbed by a Soiffer Haskin employee because she was engaged in a polite conversation with one of the protesters. She was physically pulled into the sale by an over-zealous employee. Tres chic, n'est pas?

Protesters also noticed that the sign advertising the Dennis Basso sales which was placed prominently in the Soiffer Haskin expansive plate glass store front window was no longer anywhere to be seen. A new sign appeared warning patrons that anyone entering the sale and their bags were subject to search before entry. Sucks to have animal rights activists at your door every day.

This was fairly typical for Soiffer Haskin employees, who seem to be very similar to the sadistic creeps that work for Dennis Basso. They went out of their way to point to the pictures of the skinned and bloodied animals and to laugh and hee-haw. More than one swished his hips and showed his ass, very reminiscent of how they react to protests at Basso’s main fur den on Madison Avenue.

What kind of people would laugh at pictures of horrible cruelty…pictures that make most people wince and turn away. Instead they laugh and giggle like little girls on a field trip. These people are the scum of the earth, disgusting perverts.

Activists shamed customers and employees alike and are fairly certain that it's unlikely Soiffer-Haskin will show Basso's pelts again in the coming years. in the event that they do decide to host another fur ghoul, be it Dennis Basso or anyone else, WAR activists have vowed to step up the level of their activism with longer and more aggressive protests. Do the right thing, Soiffer Haskin. Stop selling fur now.
