March Madness Concludes - Weekend #5

Protests at homes of Huntingdon Life Sciences CEO, LSR Investor Barclays & HLS Customer BMS

Demo #1: Andrew Baker – Chairman & CEO – Huntingdon Life Sciences

It's that time of the month again! Win Animal Rights returned to the Central Park West home of Andrew Baker, CEO and head puppy killer at Huntingdon Life Sciences. He is directly responsible for the sadistic torture of animals masquerading as science. Just in case people needed a reminder of why they were there, the activists' chants could be heard far and wide: "Punching beagles in the face! Andrew Baker what a disgrace!"

One pedestrian stopped by to get a better understanding of the protest. He was shocked that such such barbarity could be legal. What most people don't know is that the Animal Welfare Act only offers regulations for proper housing of the laboratory animals (and even that could not be guaranteed, as with the horrific abuse occurring right not inside Baker's death camps). No law covers their treatment during the experiments. Countless animals used in experiments involving pain receive no pain relief. Further, the current provisions of the Animal Welfare Act do not even cover mice and rats, the majority of animals used in "research," as well as winged animals.

During the demonstration, a British family walked by to complain that the Bakers never lived in that in the building. The father refused to look at the evidence that disproved his wild accusation. Relatives of the Bakers, perhaps? Or maybe, just handsomely paid friends? These weak attempts to convince people that they have moved only serve to demonstrate that Andrew and Susan are still agitated by the protests. Awww, poor babies!

Demo #2: Darryl Herrick - Barclays

Next up, the activists, with their new-found friend from the Baker demo (he decided stay with them for the entire day!) marched down to the home of Darryl Herryck, who works for Barclays, the largest Institutional Investor in HLS. Since this was a new location, the natives were a bit on edge and complained that the demonstration was too loud. Sorry about that, but why don't you take it up with Darryl? After all, it's Barclays that still refuses to divest from the scumbag animal abusers, in a failing company, no less!

When the police arrived on the scene, they were pleasant and courteous, since they knew the activists had a Constitutionally protected right to be there. The demonstration eventually ended without a fuss, as most neighbors realized the issue was more important that a few more minutes of Sunday afternoon silence.

Demo #3: Lamberto Andreotti – Bristol-MyersSquibb – President & COO

Following Herryk, the protesters continued down Central Park West to the residence of Lamberto Andreotti, President and Chief Operating Officer for Bristol-Myers Squibb. Andreotti, perhaps next in line for CEO, can certainly use his position to get BMS to drop HLS like a sack of potatoes. So far, he has not warmed up to the protests. No matter, demonstrations will continue until he changes his mind. WAR is in it for the long haul.

The busy location provided activists with a superb outreach opportunity, as many people took fliers and spoke to activists. Everyone hates puppy killers, and WAR will gladly get the word out on Lamberto's dastardly deeds.

This day of action is dedicated to Adam Ortberg, a tremendously compassionate individual that continues to face repression for simply standing up for the animals. Stay strong and keep fighting the good fight!
