Saturday, April 18, 2009 World Laboratory Animal Liberation Week Kick-Off - New York City Educational Outreach - Campaign to Stop the Killing at Huntingdon Life Sciences Several activists started the 2009 World Laboratory Animal Liberation Week by manning an educational table dedicated to laboratory animals and spreading the word about what has become an international week of commemoration for laboratory animals. The table display included graphics intended to highlight the plight of laboratory animals and more importantly the ethical and compassionate choice of buying cruelty free products. Continuous images of the suffering of animals in laboratories were delivered by DVD. Also, activist premiered the SHAC Global Time for Action 4, which provided a good look at what activists around the world are doing to stop the killing at the notorious Huntingdon Life Sciences. The message was well received, as many stopped to watch the video and comment on the cruelty to the animals. So many ask us how a company like Huntingdon Life Sciences can remain in business. Brian Cass one of the Managing Directors of HLS answered that question when he thanked the UK and USA governments for propping them up and keeping them going. A highlight of the day was a visit from a rescue dog, who was being walked along the streets of SoHo in an effort to find an adoptive or foster home. The young Lhasa Apso, named Buttercup, was the perfect gentleman as he sat beside the WAR table and activists enjoyed his company as they did their best to find him a home. A young woman who stopped to sign the petition against Huntingdon Life Sciences fell in love with Buttercup at first site. Hopefully this may result in a fur-ever home for Buttercup while also opening a slot for another rescue dog. ![]() If you are interested in adopting or fostering Buttercup or one of the many other animals rescued by Sean Casey, please contact them at: (917)734-0442 Or visit the Sean Casey Animal Rescue website at: |
