International Critical Animal Studies Conference 2009

Yale University - New Haven, Connecticut

Saturday, April 25, 2009

Win Animal Rights (WAR) founder and director, Camille Hankins, and colleague Lin Bingham, were invited to represent the North American Animal Liberation Press Office (NAALPO) at the 7th Annual Conference for Critical Animal Studies, held this year at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. The weather was warm and the campus was beautiful, as flowering trees and shrubs were in full bloom. The speakers and attendees were intelligent and engaging leading all to have a great time at this productive event, which moves from year to year.

Hankins and fellow Press Officer, Lin Bingham, delivered a presentation entitled "Commonalities of the Struggle for Animal Liberation with Historical and Concurrent Struggles for Liberation among other (Human) Groups". The presentation was well received and triggered many questions causing the 30 minute presentation to expand to close to a full hour.

Conference organizers also the Press Office and WAR to set up exhibits in the foyer, directly outside of the seminar room. Many stopped to chat or ask questions about activism, strategies and direct action.

Following the conference, dinner at a popular New Haven vegan/raw food restaurant, Ahimsa, provided a fitting ending to a wonderful outreach event. We look forward to participating in next year's conference.
