Sunday, November 4, 2007 Candlelight Vigil for Barry Horne and HLS Protests in his name ![]() Candlelight Vigil in honor of Animal Liberator Barry Horne On the eve of the anniversary of the death of animal liberator and warrior, Barry Horne activists from Win Animal Rights assembled at New York City’s Union Square. The location of the vigil is a place long famed in New York for being the gathering place of social justice advocates and political dissidents. Candles were lit and a large banner was displayed in support of the Animal Liberation Front. The banner proclaimed that in the history of the ALF in the USA not a single being, human or non-human, had been harmed in an ALF action. Despite New York’s repressive mask law, activists wore black masks as an homage to Barry Horne. Empowered by the spirit of Barry Horne, activists set off into the dark and quiet night. (Please note: Not sure how it happened but the Barry Horne sign reads 11/6 instead of what it should say 11/5. Our apologies – no disrespect intended.) Demo #1: Gabriel Plotkin, Trader - Sigma Division/SAC Capital Advisors As the hour grew later and approached the 5th of November, activists visited the home of Gabriel Plotkin of Sigma Capital. Sigma is a division of SAC Capital Advisors which is one of the largest institutional investors of LSR (Huntingdon Life Sciences). Activists held signs and filled the quiet street off 5th Avenue with their voices raised in unison, repeating….”We will never back down, until they stop the killing”. Dressed in black with some supplemented by black masks, by the light of the street lamp, activists gave voice to their anger and rage over the killing of 500 innocent animals every day by Huntingdon Life Sciences and their blood money investor SAC Capital. Demo #2: Robert Pohly, Portfolio Manager - SAC Capital Advisors The last stop of the night was the posh residential building of Robert Pohly, Portfolio Manager for SAC Capital Advisors. SAC Capital has it’s share of problems with a $4 billion class action lawsuit filed against them in superior court. With trouble like that, it is amazing that SAC chose to take on a beleaguered stock like LSR. Whatever were they thinking? The campaign against SAC/Sigma has just begun, so they have not yet experienced the full fury of activist’s rage. 180,000 animals are imprisoned at Huntingdon Lie Sciences and activists have sworn to make life hell for anyone who knowingly invests in the torture of innocent animals. The loud chanting of the activists filled the night air on 5th Avenue as they shouted out: “500 animals died today, Robert Pohly is to blame…..500 animals suffered in vain, SAC Capital is to blame”.
