SHAC Global Day of Action Against Fortress in New York City

In solidarity with the Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty campaign, New York activists protest at Fortress Investment Group World Headquarters in New York City

On Friday, December 18, 2009, New York activists delivered greetings to the office of Fortress Investment Group, primary financier for Huntingdon Life Sciences. Despite the company's claims to the contrary, Fortress continues to act as the money men that Andrew Baker so desperately needs to keep his cruel and abysmal company in business.

At the demonstration, protesters distributed a handsome load of literature detailing Fortress' corrupt deal with HLS. The posters depicting the plight of the animals trapped inside that hellhole were very much an attention-grabber. Activists were able to engage numerous people on the street, informing them that it was because of Fortress' greed that HLS was able to poison, mutilate, and murder 500 animals every single day of the week.

This demonstration, although peaceful and legal, drew an inordinate amount of law enforcement attention and a large number of police officers, including high ranking officials, who insisted on moving activists further away from Fortress Investments than required. Apparently the company that claims that they are not working with Huntingdon Life Sciences, has demanded that the NYPD treat them as if they are partners with HLS and covered by an HLS restraining order. Sleazy companies like Fortress are used to having enemies and despite the fact that activists were 50 feet away from the doors of the building, police insisted on doubling the distance.

See Fortress, you can lie, sneak, and hide all you want. Activists know the truth and will continue to expose you to the world. The campaign against you will not cease until we are convinced that you have really severed all of your ties to Huntingdon Life Sciences.
