WAR protests HLS Customers and NYSE Financial Supporters

Demo #1: William Ford III, CEO of General Atlantic Partners & Director of NYSE

Activists started their afternoon at the Fifth Avenue apartment of William Ford, who is a Director of the New York Stock Exchange. Since Ford’s fancy apartment sits right across from the East Side of Central Park, the protest was witnessed by many including numerous tour buses full to capacity with visitors to New York City. As long as the New York Stock Exchange continues to list Huntingdon Life Sciences on their Arca exchange, activists will keep coming back to Ford’s home.

Demo #2: Per Lofberg, President & CEO of Merck Capital Ventures

The next stop for WAR activists was the quaint and lovely brownstone home of Merck Capital Ventures CEO, Per Lofberg. The quiet of this sidestreet provides a perfect backdrop for the loud voices raised in chant saying 1-2-3-4 Open up the Cage Doors, 5-6-7-8 Break the locks and liberate, 9-10-11-12 Per Lofberg go to hell. Protesters explained to neighbors and passersby that Merck Capital Ventures was a subsidiary of drug pushers Merck, the scum that gave the world Vioxx, a drug that killed and disabled many.

Demo #3: Paul Bennett, NYSE Senior Vice President

Despite the cold and the rain, protesters made the long trek over to 88th Street and First Avenue to the home of Paul Bennett, Senior Executive with the New York Stock Exchange. Once again the large banner was pulled out and the posters were held for all to see. Literature was distributed and Paul’s neighbors were educated. Activists have visited this location for just over a year now and promise to come back more often in 2008. “We’ll be back” activists chanted. No doubt about that, Paul.

Demo #4: Sandra Holleran, Vice President – Bristol-Myers Squibb

Another residence that activists have not visited recently is the hi-rise home of Bristol-Myers Squibb Vice President, Sandra Holleran. Great location for an animal rights protest, as this neighborhood is clearly and unequivocally dog friendly. A number of folks stopped to chat with protesters. Thumbs up were given by cars passing by and everyone seemed supportive of the protester's objective. Some asked for a supply of flyers so that they could be distributed in the adjacent buildings. Even one of the residents of Sandra’s building, came out and asked for a supply. “For the animals we will fight…How does Sandra sleep at night?….You are back on our radar, Sandra!”.
